SINGAPORE, 25 January 2022 – A total of $308,000 was raised for SPD Charity Golf 2022, as compared to $271,316 raised in 2020. Held at the Singapore Island Country Club on Friday, 21 January, this was the first time that SPD brought 128 golfers together after the pandemic situation brought a halt to the physical tournament last year.
Gracing the occasion was Guest-of-Honour Dr Yaacob Ibrahim, former Minister and Member of Parliament of Singapore, and also Director for Community Leadership and Social Innovation Centre at the Singapore Institute of Technology.
The funds raised from the tournament will go towards supporting local disability charity SPD and the beneficiaries whom it serves. With over 20 programmes and services such as rehabilitation, assistive technology, and early intervention, SPD has been making an impact in the lives of people with disabilities for the last 57 years.

We are most thankful to them whose support have given us greater confidence to carry out our fundraising efforts during this challenging period so that we can keep our programmes running and to continue helping our beneficiaries work towards greater independence and self-reliance,” said Mr Yeo Teck Guan, SPD board member and Chairman of the SPD Charity Golf Organising Committee, and Resource Mobilisation and Partnerships Committee.
