In celebration of SPD Professionals’ Day cum Teachers’ Day which falls on 4 September this year, we honour the professionals who have been working tirelessly to ensure continuous care of our clients.

In recognition of the professionals’ effort and good work, our clients and caregivers shared with us how our professionals have impacted their lives.

Continuing Therapy Programme

“Dawn was impressive. In the first few sessions, I was amazed by how she managed to win over my daughter Jia Ning with a combination of play and learning. She could guide and incorporate learning despite Jia Ning’s low attention span. Jia Ning loves spending time with Dawn. Dawn’s method of injecting fun into learning was an excellent way of helping Jia Ning develop speech too. I learnt an important lesson from Dawn and that is to follow my child’s lead and slow down. Early Intervention Programme for Infants and Children (EIPIC)

“I still remember my daughter’s first session – anxiety was high as she was dealing with medical issues that caused her to get cranky easily. But our beloved Teacher Then managed to break the ice and drew out much laughter from her with simple bubble play. Those laughter are so precious to me!

When my daughter first started, she disliked the therapy exercises as she was not used to it. But somehow, the teachers and therapists always manage to find ways to make it interesting. From crying and throwing tantrums at drop-off to being able to go for her sessions independently with enthusiasm now, one cannot imagine how proud we are of her and certainly the immense gratitude we have for the teachers and staff that had helped her through these years.

Now, SPD sessions are her favourite and she often comes home talking about her teacher Shahirah and classmates! I think because the teachers really do engage the kids – making them feel that they are heard!  More importantly, the teachers, therapist and staff always make an effort to listen and try their best to help by giving suggestions or tips that can help the child cope better. “We would like to extend our gratitude to teacher Lee Pin, teacher Yi Rong, teacher Nursyafiah and Agnes. They have been very helpful, patient and understanding towards Noel and we cannot be more happy to have these professionals here to help us.

Of these professionals, we would like to specially thank teacher Nursyafiah for being selfless when it comes to giving our son her full attention and patience. We can see how passionate she is when it comes to sharing our son’s improvement with us and all the adjustments she has done to cater to our son’s progress. We constantly see good progress after enrolling our son into EIPIC. Professionals like Nursyafiah have assured us that our son is in good hands. Teacher Nursyafiah also spent huge efforts to upload our son’s videos on the Parent Portal which never fail to make us smile while watching our son do his activities at the centre. Day Activity Centre (DAC)

My daughter likes Thiri as she is caring. Thiri will also help Chantilyn to use a computer, which Chantilyn loves to use in the DAC.
