We celebrated National Day with extra cheer this year. Our President Ms Chia Yong Yong was awarded the Public Service Medal at this year’s National Day Awards.

Ms Chia has been a volunteer with SPD since 1997. As President of SPD’s Board of Management, she led SPD to many milestones and achievements including the setting up of SPD@Tampines and the Infocomm Accessibility Centre, and clinching of the Charity Governance Award 2012 (for large charities).

Over the years, Ms Chia has also volunteered actively in other voluntary welfare organisations and advocated for people with disabilities and the underprivileged despite her busy schedule as a lawyer.

We would like to congratulate her on receiving this award and look forward to more of her valuable contributions in the social service sector.
