Five young Singaporeans have demonstrated not only strength and resilience when overcoming countless adversities in their young lives, they have also shown optimism for the future and a passion to help those who, like them, need a little boost. Their extraordinary achievements were celebrated at the Asia Pacific Breweries (APB) Foundation Scholarship for Persons with Disabilities award ceremony this morning. It was also the first time that more than three scholarships were awarded in a year.
Ninety-four students with disabilities and students with disabled parents received the NatSteel-SPD Education Programme Bursary Awards from the Education Minister, Mr Heng Swee Keat, at an award presentation ceremony held at the Resorts Convention Centre in Sentosa this Saturday afternoon.
Close to 30 local and foreign television personalities will come together next month to help raise $3.5 million for the Society for the Physically Disabled (SPD) through a line-up of entertaining performances put up for the charity’s largest fundraiser of the year – SPD Charity Show 2013.

SPD Youth Aspiration Award presented to two youths with disabilities who bring joy to others through music and cosplay, and $76,050 in bursaries presented to 97 students with physical disabilities and students with parents who have physical disabilities.
