SPD EIPIC Sports Day 2017
The SPD EIPIC Sports Day 2017 returned with a bigger turn-out this year. Over 170 children and 360 family members from the four Building Bridges EIPIC Centres gathered at Fuhua Primary School last Friday, 6 October, for a day of fun and games.
The annual event aimed to provide opportunities for social interaction and bonding among the children, their families and SPD staff. It also served as a platform to promote a healthy lifestyle through various sports activities as well as inclusion in the society.
Over 170 children registered for the event, with more than 360 accompanying caregivers.
“It is heartening to see so many people coming together to make this a memorable day for our children. This is a great opportunity for family bonding and it allows the children to enjoy learning through sports,” said Ms Becky Hoo, SPD’s Director of Children’s Services.
The five game stations that were set up - Move It, Slide and Stack, Ready-Set-Aim, Bull’s Eye and Hatching Dino – tested the children’s speed, endurance and precision. Medals, trophies and prizes were given to celebrate success and recognise perseverance.
Participants were treated to lunch and a host of carnival games and activities including the photo booth and balloon sculpting.
“The event was fun and the children really enjoyed it! The games were suited for the needs of the children and I am glad that the children were given opportunities to play such games,” said Mr Moses Oh, parent of 4-year-old Kimberly Oh who attends the Early Intervention Programme for Infants and Children (EIPIC) at SPD Ability Centre.
The event was sponsored by local bank, UOB, and made possible with the help of volunteers from SAGE Foundations, a business development company.
