Nippon Paint Singapore Gives SPD@Toa Payoh a Makeover
Nippon Paint (S) volunteers hard at work at SPD@Toa Payoh
SPD@Toa Payoh is a day rehabilitation centre providing rehabilitation services, nursing care, day care, weekend respite care and transport services to more than 240 adults and seniors with disabilities. Our trained professionals provide custodial and personal care, administer medication where necessary, and offer general exercises and social and recreational activities. It is therefore important that the centre, which occupies three first level units spanning three blocks, maintains a conducive and calming environment for the clients.
The centre has not had a fresh coat of paint for a while and the makeover by around 80 staff volunteers from Nippon Paint (S) was definitely a welcome initiative.
Done over three Saturdays between 13 and 27 September 2014, the volunteers used more than 310 litres of Nippon paint and primers, including their Momento Special Effects Paints, to create an artistic yet elegant feel for the centre. The project was valued at an estimated $8,000, including the paints, manpower and other support rendered by Nippon Paint (S).
The new look certainly made an impression right away with some clients such as Mdm Wong Choh Sang who said, “The paint is very clean and looks refreshing!”
“We are very honoured to receive this sponsorship for a full makeover of our Toa Payoh centre from Nippon Paint. This new coat of paint gives our centre a new lease of life which our elderly clients greatly appreciate, especially the pillars in Momento Special Effects Paints. Thank you so much to all the staff and management of Nippon Paint!” said Ms Sharon Chen, manager of SPD@Toa Payoh.
We would like to record our gratitude to the volunteers for their hard work and sacrifice of three weekends, as well as Nippon Paints (S) for their generosity.
