Through the efforts of various agencies to reach out to more employers, the response has been generally encouraging as more employers are opening up to supporting people with disabilities by providing employment, internship or project opportunities for them.
If you are a business owner or a hiring manager, we hope to encourage you to adopt an inclusive hiring practice and provide employment, internship and project opportunities to people with disabilities. They are a pool of untapped resources and can contribute positively to your organisation’s bottom line.
Commercial projects are intended to give our trainees a hands-on job experience and the opportunity to develop a portfolio and earn an allowance. SPD’s trainers guide the trainees in the quality and delivery of the projects. The range of services that we take on includes:
Employments and internships
Internship programmes create training and job opportunities for people with disabilities. Employers hiring interns can turn to the Open Door Programme that the SG Enable administers for consultancy and funding support.

In addition, our Employment Support team helps in facilitating the transition of people with disabilities into their new work environment. We extend support to employers from the hiring process to the early stages of employment through job coaches and orientation workshops for employers and their staff so that they have a better understanding of working with people with disabilities.
